On November 16 and 17, 2021, an online conference was held between the Uzbek State University of World Languages, the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (Mexico) and the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi. Dilrabo Bakhronova, head of the department of Spanish language practice at our university, and a representative of the University of Mexico City, dean of the faculty of languages of the world, prof. Virna Velazquez.
At the presentation of national Mexican cuisine, prepared by Estela Estrada, Uzbek students were presented with the most famous Mexican dishes and their variations in different regions of Mexico: tlacoyos, tamala and chilakilah and others.
The head of the scientific research department of the University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after A. Navoi Nodirbek Zhurakuziyev told Mexican scientists and students about the work carried out to restore the texts of the Turkic historical artifacts “Kultegin” and about the proto-Turkic beliefs, as well as the similarities between Tengri (the supreme god in Turkic beliefs) and the Mayan and Aztec gods (the indigenous people of Mexico).
On the second day, the conference participants discussed the problems arising in the translation of works from Spanish into Uzbek.
An extensive hands-on Spanish session was also provided. Presentations were presented by Zulkhumor Kholmanova, professor of the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, as well as Associate Professor Dilrabo Bakhronova, Soliha Anorboeva and, from the Mexican side, Doctor of Philosophy, Alma Ferado.
The conference was attended by over 100 foreign students and teachers who were interested in the cultures of Mexico and Uzbekistan, and asked questions on the topic of the event. Our students also attended the conference as observers listening to live Spanish.
