Shakhzoda is a third – year student at the University of World Languages in Uzbekistan and is currently studying Spanish philology at the University of Valladolid in Spain through the Erasmus + ka107 exchange program.
1. Brief information about yourself.
My name is Shakhzoda and I’m 20 years old. I’m from Tashkent and I’m 3rd year student of UzSWLU, where study Spanish philology. This semester I’m studying in Spain in university of Valladolid and this is my first experience in exchange programs.
2. Why did you decide to study for a bachelor’s or master’s degree abroad?
For me, learning foreign language is really important and I knew that improvement and enrichment of my language skills, better understanding of the culture and natives, as well getting new knowledge and experience, can be better found and practiced exactly in the chosen language speaking country.
3. Why did you choose the program you are studying?
I’ve chosen this program for 2 reasons: firstly, the university I’m studying in is really good, according to the different rankings, so my studying field is full of different educational directions and interesting disciplines; secondly, the program is well – adapted for international students, so there are many of them and they really like they experience there.
4. Is it easy to get a bachelor’s / master’s degree abroad? What are the requirements for admission abroad?
To get a grant for studying bachelor’s degree for some period of time abroad you need to be chosen by the University on an educational contest base between students, do a lot of documentation and study hard, so there’s a lot to do and my experience wasn’t easy, especially due to world pandemic situation. Admission requires many various documents from your university, CV, motivation and recommendation letters, list of your progress, certificates and many more.
5. Why do you think they chose you?
I think they’ve chosen me, because I have a passion to the chosen language indeed and I really tried to do my best during my studies.
6. What practical advice can you give to our subscribers who, like you, want to study abroad and win a grant?
My suggestion is to realize why exactly you need to study abroad, to think about goals you want to achieve and how studying abroad can promote it, what benefits you intend to get there and compose a really good balanced motivation letter that is really important. It requires time to write a good motivation letter so it’s better to start it as soon as possible.
7. How do entrants get started?
It started a year ago, when a program was announced and submission deadlines were set, so I started preparing required documents.
8. What are your short – time plans?
During my mobility period I plan to practice my Spanish and improve it as much as possible and study hard to become a qualified professional in my area. Also, I plan to start doing sport actively to lead a healthy lifestyle that is really important and shouldn’t be forgotten.
