July 1 – 3, Bogotá, Colombia
Join our series of pre-conference webinars and events
We would like to invite you to our first event of 2021 in the build-up to our New Directions conference in Bogotá, Colombia in July – an international event that provides perspectives and insight on trends and approaches in English language assessment at a local, regional, and international level.
New Directions is aimed at education and testing practitioners, policymakers and implementers, and other stakeholders with an interest in the role of language assessment in education systems and provides a forum to interact, exchange information, and keep abreast of leading developments in the field of English language teaching, learning, and assessment. The conference showcases innovative approaches and local, national, and international research.
The aim of the pre-conference events is to explore the themes of the conference and introduce some of the main speakers and presenters in order to connect colleagues, exchange information and ideas, and start conversations which we can then continue in Bogota. On Wednesday 27th January we will run our 3rd webinar entitled Putting theory into practice: Language Assessment in Latin America.
This webinar will be dealing with topics such as assessing learners in a remote environment, teachers´ development needs in the context of CEFR understanding, and alternative approaches of assessment in the EFL classroom. It will be of great interest to a wide audience including English language coordinators in higher education institutions and schools, curriculum planners, teachers, and the wider community involved in English language assessment.
For this webinar, we are delighted to be joined by: Alberto Costa – Senior Assessment Services Manager for Cambridge Assessment English in the Americas
Erica Balazs – Assessment Consultant for The British Council Global Assessment team (Madrid, Spain)
Edgar Picón – Associate Professor and School of Languages and research Coordinator at Universidad de Antioquia (Medellin, Colombia)
